Şöhret Doğruyol Sağbaş Kimdir?

1981 yılında İstanbul’da doğdu. Çocukluğu ve ilk gençliği babasının görevi nedeniyle İstanbul, Mardin, Çanakkale, İzmit, Siirt ve Kırklareli’de geçti. 2004 yılında Dicle Üniversitesi Eğitim Fakültesi Türkçe Öğretmenliği bölümünden mezun oldu. 2012 yılında İstanbul Kültür Üniversitesi Sanat Yönetimi Bölümünde yüksek lisansını tamamladı.

Çeşitli gazete ve dergilerde çağdaş sanat üzerine köşe yazıları yazdı. Çocuk edebiyatında verdiği ilk ürün “Kız Kulesi Efsanesi” isimli -besteleri de kendisine ait- müzikli bir çocuk oyunu oldu. Eserlerinde, toplumsal yapıya ve işleyişe felsefe üzerinden getirdiği bakış açısı ile bireylerin öz yönetimi ve toplumsal rolleri başta olmak üzere insana ait olan türlü konuları örtük bir biçimde irdeler.

Çağdaş çocuk edebiyatına eğlenceli ve ufuk açan üslubu ile bilim kurgu roman türünde verdiği eserleri ağırlıkta olmak suretiyle katkıda bulunmaktadır. Eserlerinde okurlarını; doğayı korumaya, teknolojiyi doğru kullanmaya, sağlıklı beslenmeye, hayvanlara ve beraberinde tüm canlılara karşı saygılı olmaya, sanatla ilgilenmeye, üretim yapmaya, iyi bir insan olmaya davet ederken çoğu romanında da okurlarını gelecekte bekleyen olası senaryolarla yüzleştirir. 

Enstrümanlara karşı olan özel ilgisi, kitaplarında da kendini gösterir. Bazı kitapları için şarkılar yaparak bunlara QR kod ile kitaplarında da yer vermektedir.  

Şöhret Doğruyol Sağbaş, çocuk yazını ile ilgili atölye çalışmaları yapmakta, konferanslar düzenlemekte ve söyleşilere katılmakta bir yandan da 2004 yılından bu yana İstanbul’da Türkçe öğretmenliği görevini sürdürmektedir.

Prof. Dr Mehmet Sağbaş ile evli olup bir oğlu vardır. Yazara ait romanların büyük bir bölümünün resimlemesi Mehmet Sağbaş’a aittir. Yeraltı Günlükleri romanını ise birlikte kaleme almışlardır. Şöhret Doğruyol Sağbaş, aynı zamanda Mehmet Sağbaş’a ait olan Barbar Yeni Dünya isimli yetişkin romanının editörlüğünü de üstlenmiştir. Roman, Kayıp Rıhtım’ın okur anketiyle 2018 yılında yılın en iyi yerli bilim kurgu romanı seçilmiştir.

ŞÖHRET DOĞRUYOL SAĞBAŞ BIOGRAPHY

   Şöhret Doğruyol Sağbaş opened her eyes to the world on a night of İstanbul in 1981 during a curfew. She completed her elementary, secondary and high school education respectively in İstanbul, Mardin, Çanakkale, İzmit, Siirt and Kırklareli, where she had to study her senior years in different cities due to her father’s profession. She has always been on good terms with instruments. However, she never sang. Although she wanted to get into conservatory, she could not even take entrance exams. She was undecided between two professions since she was a kid. Psychology or Turkish teaching? The fact that she established empathy when listening to people and she couldn’t help crying when she saw someone crying, deterred her from being a psychologist. And in the year of 2005, she was assigned to İstanbul as a Turkish teacher. Although she worked in management for a while, she convinced herself that this job was not suitable for herself at all and returned to her classroom.

   Throughout her teaching life, she introduced her students to occupations within her own field of interest. She put her signature under various projects together with her students. Primary ones of these projects are as follows: photograph and painting exhibitions, short films, theaters, poem performances, dance shows, school orchestras, various social responsibility projects such as Yavru TEMA (Baby Turkish Foundation for Combating Erosion Reforestation and the Protection of Natural Habitats) operations and support for animal shelters… In 2010, she realized that there is something missing in herself about art education and she had postgraduate education in Art Direction department. Then she started to go to exhibitions and write articles of art. When she had a little boy, made up stories for him at nights. Consequently, her imagination stimulated further, and she did what she had to do. She felt that she needed to write not for adults but for children and she did not let go of this feeling. She still continues her job of Turkish teaching in İstanbul with pleasure and great excitement. In her spare time, she plays games with her son, meets with her readers at autograph sessions, reads books, takes photographs and plays piano, guitar, violin, transverse flute and frame drum.
